12 WNBA Players Drafted to the Korean League!

The Korean League (WKBL) held their draft for the 2016-2017 tonight in Seoul, South Korea. 12 WNBA players were drafted with 6 players having previous experience playing in the WKBL. The first player selected in the draft by Samsung Blue Minx was Alyssa Thomas who currently plays for the Connecticut Sun. Thomas played in the Korean League for the 2014-15 season and lead the league in scoring. The Korean league starts during the first week of November.

Draft Order;

  1. Samsung: Alyssa Thomas (Connecticut Sun)
  2. KDB: Karima Christmas (Dallas Wings)
  3. Shinhan: Morgan Tuck (Connecticut Sun) 
  4. KB Stars: Kiah Stokes (New York Liberty)
  5. Woori Bank: Jonquel Jones (Connecticut Sun)
  6. KEB Hana: Aerial Powers (Dallas Wings)
  7. Woori Bank: Monique Currie (San Antonio Stars)
  8. KB Stars: Plenette Pierson (Dallas Wings)
  9. Shinhan Bank: Adut Bulgak (New York Liberty)
  10. KDB: Tianna Hawkins (Washington Mystics)
  11. Samsung: Natasha Howard (Minnesota Lynx)
  12. KEB Hana: Natalie Achonwa (Indiana Fever)
