On Saturday, Adana won 95-85 at Yakin Dogu University as WNBA teammates Amanda Zahui B and Riquna Williams helped cancel out a tremendous scoring effort from Tiffany Hayes.  Istanbul University won 65-52 at Botas despite a great game from Avery Warley.  The headline game of the weekend was the latest installment of the rivalry between Galatasaray and Fenerbahce, perhaps the world’s greatest multisport rivalry.  Both teams were finally sporting their preferred rosters as Galatasaray just edged the encounter 76-72 behind Jelena Dubljevic.  On Sunday, Chelsea Gray made her Abdullah Gul University debut as they beat Besiktas 73-68 and stayed in first palce.  Angel McCoughtry led Mersin past Samsun 77-72.  Hatay also stayed in first place as they won 84-80  at Orduspor despite a big scoring game from Jelena Milovanovic.  Gelistirenler was boosted by the arrival of Megan Leuzinger as they beat Edirnespor 88-76.

Over the Eurobasket break Abdullah Gul University signed Chelsea Gray. Gray started the season off in Spain playing for Girona who competed in both the Spanish and EuroLeague. Gray was leading the Spanish league in scoring averaging almost 19 points a game.  A great addition to the roster who should help them as they take on UMMC in the next round of EuroLeage play.

Turkish League Round 4

Turkey

Surprisingly two of the top teams in the Turkish league suffered defeats this round! Both Galatasaray and Fenerbahce lost their games. Fenerbahce to Canik and Galatasaray to third placed Hatay. Perhaps the grueling travel schedule and the physicality of the EuroLeague got the best of these two teams this week.  Things were different on Sunday, where Abdullah Gul University did sneak out a win over Gelistirenler to at least score one for the EuroLeague teams.  Orduspor beat Yakin Dogo University as all four of their foreigners carried the team to offset strong performances from the Connecticut Sun duo.  Edirnespor won their first game after beating Botas.  Angel McCoughtry had one of the stronger individual efforts and she got help from at Atlanta Dream teammate as Mersin handed Istanbul University its first loss.  Besiktas got their first win and kept Adana winless as Riquna Williams did not get enough help.
