The final games of the cup were played in Sfantu Gheorghe over the weekend.  Saturday started with Adrienne Webb leading Arad past Kayla Mobley and Targu Secuiesc 76-59.  The hosts then breezed past Agronomia 109-41 to set up the final on Sunday.  Caliya Robinson and Arad jumped out to an early lead to try to counter a big crowd for the hosts, but Andra Mandache and Sepsi got back in the game and kept their lead in the second half to win 80-67 and capture the trophy as they look to continue their domestic dominance for the rest of the season.

Romanian Cup Quarterfinals Game 2 January 15th

January 15, 2020

All four series concluded on Wednesday.  Adrienne Webb and Arad already had a lead from the first game, winning at home as well 78-60 to push the final margin over Angela Beadle and Brasov to 144-120.  A battle of duos saw Kayla Mobley get help from Jade Vega in Targu Secuiesc’s 74-66 win over Mariah King, Alexandra Uiuiu, and Cluj to move a narrow margin to a more decisive final of 131-120.  Satu Mare had kept it close at home, but a good game from Bernice Mosby was not enough as Sepsi won 90-63 behind Chrissy Givens, pushing their advantage to 161-130 and sending a message to the team that is probably best positioned to challenge them in the league.  Agronomia faced a deficit from the road game, but looked to be well on their way to overturning it at home.  A power outage hit late in the game and rules stated that if the game could not be resumed in a timely manner, then the entire game would be wiped out and restarted from the beginning.  Everything managed to be restored just in time and Anca Sipos helped them win 70-45, which was enough to flip the aggregate in their favor for a 105-92 overall win.
