Adrianne Ross. Cluj Napoca in Romania.

All games for this round were played simultaneously on Saturday.  Brasov won 80-51 at Targu Mures behind the trio of Adrienne Webb, Biljana Pesovic, and KK Houser.  A rather dreary game in Targoviste led to a surprise result as the hosts upended Sepsi 49-36.  Iasi has managed to put a competitive team together quickly, but they fell 63-57 at Satu Mare.  Galati beat Alexandria with Jeannette Jackson leading the way.  A battle of university-sponsored teams went to Cluj-Napoca 75-71 as Adrianne Ross led the way as Morgan Stroman tried her best to lead hosts Arad to the win.

The league started a new season on Friday as Cluj-Napoca welcomed Targu Mures to the league by beating them 79-45.  Games continued on Saturday with Brasov beating Satu Mare 65-58 as Kristina Higgins and Morgan Batey had solid professional debuts for their respective teams.  Sepsi is considered the league favorite again and they started their season with a 76-69 win over Alexandria.  Carla Bartee, one of the best players in the league last season, teamed with Tori Rule for the visitors, but it was not enough as Megan Mullings also had her professional debut.  On Sunday, Monique Coker and Targoviste welcomed Iasi to the league by beating them 79-61 although Jasmine Johnson did have a good start to her professional career.  The last game was on Monday as Shanice Steenholdt led Galati to a 76-73 win at Arad with Erica Covile making her professional debut.

Romanian Cup Final Four

February 10, 2016 by Andrew

Qualifiers for the Final Four of the Romanian Cup were held earlier in the season as the last four teams arrived at Brasov to crown a winner.  The first semifinal saw Ty Marshall lead Sepsi to a 65-45 win over Alba Iulia. The next game saw the hosts overcome a solid effort from Chrisstasia Walter to beat Galati 72-55.

In the final game Ty Marshall willed her team to victory as Sepsi won the trophy with an 87-49 win.  The result may be an indicator of how the league powerhouse will look for the postseason.

After these events, the league held their All Star festivities on Monday.  Full statistics are not available, but the North beat the South 106-97 with Jelena Antic being named the MVP.  Ana Ferariu won the Skills Contest and Biljana Pesovic won the 3 Points Contest, giving both competitions to players from hosts Brasov.
