Polish League Round 22 March 3rd

The last round of the regular season was played on Wednesday.  At the bottom of the standings, Torun kept Marta Marckinkowska and GTK Gdynia from at least recording one win by a 70-61 margin.  Sydney Wallace secured an impressive large gap in the race for the scoring title in Zaglebie Sosnowiec’s 91-64 win over G’mrice Davis and Poznan.  Stephanie Jones and Sug Sutton teamed up to lead Sleza Wroclaw past Lublin 84-69.  Megan Gustafson and Gorzow sent Polkowice a message for a possible playoff matchup with a 92-73 win.  Alice Kunek and Arka Gdynia finished a perfect regular season with a 122-54 win over Angelika Stankiewicz and Bydgoszcz.

Polish League Round 21 February 23rd-27th

The last few Round 12games that needed to be made up were played midweek.  On Tuesday, Arka Gdynia beat the Gdansk University of Technology 91-75.  On Wednesday, Cierra Burdick led Bydgoszcz past Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, Borislava Hristova, and Gorzow 77-68.  This round also started on Wednesday as G’mrice Davis paced Poznan in an 87-72 win over Lublin.  The Gdansk University of Technology was the first team to finish their regular season, falling 77-76 to Cierra Burdick and Bydgoszcz on Saturday.  Megan Gustafson paced Gorzow in an 85-63 win over Sleza Wroclaw.  GTK Gdynia was no closer to their first win after losing to Zaglebie Sosnowiec 77-46.  Alice Kunek and Laura Miskiniene helped Arka Gdynia stay undefeated, but Keisha Hampton and Polkowice gave them something to think about later in the season as they kept it close before falling 81-76.

Round 13 was finished with a pair of games on Wednesday.  Lublin beat Bydgoszcz 67-56 and Arka Gdynia beat Gorzow 90-70.  This round started on Friday with a 92-52 win for Lublin over GTK Gdynia.  On Saturday, Aaryn Ellenberg-Wiley lifted Polkowice past Bydgoszcz 70-68.  Arka Gdynia was challenged by Sleza Wroclaw, but won 71-65.  Borislava Hristova and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough fired Gorzow past Poznan 99-67.  The round finished on Sunday with the trio of Kirby Burkholder, Sarah Sagerer, and Briahanna Jackson leading Torun past Jazmine Davis and the Gdansk University of Technology 93-68.

The first game after the international break was on Saturday as Gdynia beat Jovana Popovic and Poznan 93-69.  Sug Sutton had a good game for Sleza Wroclaw, but Bydgoszcz won 82-71.  GTK Gdynia fought hard for their first win in the first half, but Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Gorzow buckled down in the second half in a 75-63 win.  Sydney Wallace shows no signs of slowing down for Sosnowiec, but Briahanna Jackson and Kirby Burkholder teamed up to get Torun a 90-83 win.  The lone Sunday game saw Kateryna Rymarenko and the Gdansk University of Technology beat Polkowice 90-66.

The last game of Round 17 was played on Tuesday with Gorzow returning from continental play and they crushed Torun 112-67 behind Megan Gustafson.  This round was finished on Friday to create a longer international break as Lublin beat Torun 74-65.  Shante Evans had a good game for Bydgoszcz, but Tiffany Brown and Poznan left with a 62-57 win.  Weronika Telenga helped Polkowice a big game from Stephanie Jones for Sleza Wroclaw to win 81-70.  Jessica January and Sydney Wallace had good games for Zaglebie Sosnowiec, but Jazmine Davis led the Gdansk University of Technology to a 94-81 win.

A pair of Round 12 games were played on Wednesday.  Aaryn Ellenberg-Wiley led Polkowice in an 89-79 win over Morgan Bertsch, Jennifer O’Neill, and Lublin.  Sug Sutton and Stephanie Jones had big games for Sleza Wroclaw, but Sydney Wallace continued her scoring surge and Zaglebie Sosnowiec won 88-84.  This round started on Saturday with Morgan Bertsch and Martina Fassina teaming up get Lublin a 94-79 win in Sosnowiec despite another big game for Sydney Wallace.  Keisha Hampton led Polkowice past Jovana Popovic and Poznan 86-59.  On Sunday, the Gdansk University of Technology edged Stephanie Jones and Sleza Wroclaw 68-67.  Alicja Zytkowska and the youngsters of GTK Gdynia were actually in position to fight for a win, but Shante Evans and Bydgoszcz did enough late to win 86-78.

Polish League Round 16 January 12th-17th

On Tuesday, Round 12 was finished with Aaryn Ellenberg-Wiley and Weronika Telenga helping Polkowice complete a big comeback to beat Megan Gustafson, Borislava Hristova, and Gorzow.  Arka Gdynia started the round on Wednesday with continental play on the horizon and beat Torun 94-57.  Saturday’s games started with Lublin besting Jazmine Davis and the Gdansk University of Technology 77-70.  Gorzow had their trio of Shatori Walker-Kimbrough, Borislava Hristova, and Megan Gustafson firing in a 100-89 win over Sydney Wallace and Zaglebie Soswnowiec.  Kamile Nacickaite and Polkowice did not ease up against the youngsters of GTK Gdynia at all, crushing them 72-23.  There was extra basketball on Sunday as G’mrice Davis and Poznan finally edged Stephanie Jones and Sleza Wroclaw 81-80.

On Wednesday, Sarah Sagerer and Torun beat Stephanie Jones and Sleza Wroclaw 68-63 in a Round 13 game.  The last Round 10 game was also played in Gdynia as the trio of Laura Miskiniene, Alice Kunek, and Marissa Kastanek got the hosts past Aaryn Ellenberg-Wiley, Keisha Hampton, and Polkowice.  A full round of games was played on Saturday.  Julia Tyszkiewicz and Nikola Dudasova led Sleza Wroclaw past GTK Gydnia 109-59.  Briahanna Jackson had a good game for Torun, but Bydgoszcz left with an 85-63 win.  Arka Gdynia found themselves in another close game as Sydney Wallace went off for Zaglebie Sosnowiec, but still won 85-78.  Shatori Walker-Kimbrough helped Gorzow force overtime, but Jennifer O’Neill and Morgan Bertsch and Lublin won 79-78.  Poznan beat the Gdansk University of Technology 68-55.

A game from Round 18 was brought forward to last Sunday and Alice Kunek led Arka past GTK 105-56 in a battle of Gdynia teams.  Arka Gdynia got an unexpected test from Chucky Jeffery and Bydgoszcz, but stayed the league favorites with a 68-64 win on Wednesday.  Sydney Wallace had an impressive game, but Keisha Hampton helped Polkowice leave Sosnowiec with a 93-76 win in a Round 13 game.  This round started on Saturday with Polkowice rolling past Torun 79-34.  The rest of the games were on Sunday as Gorzow came back to beat the Gdansk University of Technology 78-72.  Sydney Wallace and Jessica January had big games for Zaglebie Sosnowiec, but Shante Evans and Bydgoszcz won 82-77.  Laura Miskiniene and Arka Gdynia found themselves challenged again, this time by Morgan Bertsch and Lublin, but won 85-78.  Daria Marciniak led Poznan in a 76-58 win over GTK Gdynia.

Games were falling off the schedule again, but G’mrice Davis and Tiffany Brown teamed up to lead Poznan past Torun 82-64 on Sunday.  On Monday, Ruth Hamblin and the Gdansk University of Technology beat GTK Gdynia 98-67 in a Round 13 game.
