Israeli League Makeup Games February 10th-14th

February 14, 2022 by Andrew

Games were made up after the original conclusion of the regular season, but virus issues meant that one of the four games scheduled for Thursday had to be postponed further.  The first game of the day saw Shatori Walker-Kimbrough try to carry Ramat Hasharon without her usual running mate, but Victoria Vivians and Kelsey Bone helped Maccabi Ashdod leave with a 79-74 win.  Emma Cannon and Paulina Hersler teamed up to lead Elitzur Ramla past Alisia Jenkins and Maccabi Ramat Hen 86-79.  The other two games were in Round 14 with the Round 16 game ending the day in entertaining fashion.  Kristi Bellock led Hapoel Rishon Lezion, but Danielle Adams and Alexis Jones put on a show for Elitzur Holon in a 95-87 win.  Elitzur Tel Aviv was able to return for their Saturday night Round 17 game and were led by Kiara Leslie, but they lost to Elitzur Holon, which was led by Alexis Jones and Danielle Adams again, 79-64.  Monday’s first game was from Round 18 and had no shortage of scoring as Alisia Jenkins had a fantastic game with Linnae Harper and Kai James also providing points for Maccabi Ramat Hen in a 122-92 win over Kiara Leslie, Teana Muldrow, and Elitzur Tel Aviv.  Paulina Hersler and Elitzur Ramla had recent momentum, but fell to Khadijiah Cave, Jordan Hooper, and Hapoel Petah Tikva 82-69.  Bernice Mosby and Maccabi Haifa finished the first stage of the season in the top spot with a 72-70 win over Kristen Simon and Herzliya.

February 7, 2022

Monday was supposed to be the last day of the regular season, but not all of the games could be played and there are still games that need to be made up before the next stage can begin.  In the first game of the day, Jacinta Monroe filled back in for Ramat Hasharon, but Maccabi Haifa’s import trio was all at its best with Krystal Vaughn and Bernice Mosby providing the scoring and Chelsea Hopkins recording a triple-double.  Maccabi Ashdod continued to look strong as Alex Cohen and Victoria Vivians led them past Khadijiah Cave and Hapoel Petah Tikva 90-63.  Kristen Simon and Brittany Brown had good games for Herzliya, but they are still suffering too much of a roster disadvantage as Jennie Simms was fantastic for Hapoel Rishon Lezion again in an 81-75 win.  Rennia Davis’s promising start continued and Sydney Zambrotta made her professional debut, but Elitzur Ramla rolled past Elitzur Holon 90-61.

Israeli League Round 11 February 3rd-4th

February 4, 2022 by Andrew

There were hopes of playing the rest of the Round 11 games and an additional makeup game, but only three games could be played, starting with two on Thursday.  N’dea Jones had a great debut in filling Ramat Hasharon’s last import spot and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough had another strong game to win 86-76 and offset another impressive performance from Jennie Simms for Hapoel Rishon Lezion, which suddenly looks like it will face multiple title challengers.  Elitzur Holon quickly brought in Rennia Davis to fill their last import spot, but her good start was not enough in a 78-62 loss to Herzliya.  The Friday afternoon game saw Kelsey Bone continue a fantastic run for Maccabi Ashdod as they edged Elitzur Ramla 67-63.

Israeli League Round 17 January 28th-31st

January 31, 2022 by Andrew

This round started with a Friday afternoon game and Ramat Hasharon was still down an import and all of Maccabi Ramat Hen’s were firing as Kai James, Alisia Jenkins, and Linnae Harper all had good games, but Shatori Walker-Kimbrough helped the hosts just hold on to a 84-83 win.  Three more games were able to be played as scheduled on Monday.  Kelsey Bone has helped Maccabi Ashdod greatly since joining and led them past Krystal Vaughn and Maccabi Haifa 79-62.  Jordan Hooper helped Hapoel Petah Tikva leave Herzliya with a win after fending off a late surge led by Brittany Brown and Kristen Simon for the hosts, which got a professional debut from Sarah Meisenberg.  With what they hope is their final roster, Emma Cannon and Elitzur Ramla showed that they still have something to say about the top of the standings as Jennie Simms was brilliant again for Hapoel Rishon Lezion again, but it was not enough in a 75-70 loss.

A pair of games from the fully postponed round were able to be made up on Thursday.  Crystal Dangerfield made her overseas debut for Elitzur Ramla and they looked more like the team that they were expected to be in a 76-73 win over Bernice Mosby and Maccabi Haifa.  Kiara Leslie and Elitzur Tel Aviv continued to battle without a full complement of imports, losing to Kelsey Bone and Maccabi Ashdod 89-46.

Only two of the games scheduled for this round could be played on Monday.  Elitzur Tel Aviv has a tough path to avoiding the drop now as Kiara Leslie had a good game, but Bridget Carleton and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough led Ramat Hasharon to a 91-73 win.  Kelsey Bone led Maccabi Ashdod, but Maccabi Ramat Hen won 72-67.

Israeli League Round 13 January 9th-10th

January 10, 2022 by Andrew

On the schedule, these are the matchups from Round 14 and it started Sunday with the two teams at the top of the standings.  Bernice Mosby and Maccabi Haifa kept it even in the first quarter, but it was all Hapoel Rishon Lezion led by Jennie Simms and Eden Zipel for an 85-55 win.  That ended up being the only game played to completion as virus concerns wiped out all four games on Monday in dramatic fashion.  Confirmed postponement was quite late for three of the games while the key game at the bottom of the standings between Elitzur Tel Aviv and Herzliya started, but was abandoned when the hosts committed enough fouls to be left with not enough players to proceed.

Tuesday was the day for the games listed as Round 13 in schedules to be played.  The first game saw Maccabi Ashdod use balance to defeat Danielle Adams and Elitzur Holon 67-61.  Kristen Simon and Herzliya got a win that could help them stay clear of the danger zone taking advantage of a shorthanded Ramat Hasharon team led by Shatori Walker-Kimbrough 76-66.  A fun game with duos facing off saw Dekeyia Cohen and Jennie Simms help Hapoel Rishon Lezion edge Kai James, Alisia Jenkins, and Maccabi Ramat Hen 82-77.  Khadijiah Cave and Kenisha Bell looked to help Hapoel Petah Tikva spring an upset, but Bernice Mosby and Krystal Vaughn along with a triple-double from Chelsea Hopkins helped Maccabi Haifa recover for an 83-76 win to keep their lead.  Elitzur Tel Aviv was looking to avoid being stranded at the bottom and faced an Elitzur Ramla team down an import, but lost 69-56.

Israeli League Round 11 December 30th-31st

December 31, 2021 by Andrew

On the schedule, this is technically Round 12, but it started with three games on Thursday.  Elitzur Holon took the lead heading into the final frame, but Bernice Mosby and Maccabi had the better of the last period for a 78-72 win.  Hapoel Petah Tikva had a little bit more depth to draw on and that helped them have the better second half as Kenisha Bell and Khadijiah Cave led them past Alisia Jenkins, Kai James, and Maccabi Ramat Hen 91-81.  Ramat Hasharon was down an import so good games from Shatori Walker-Kimbrough and Bridget Carleton were not enough in their 85-78 loss to Emma Cannon, Courtney Williams, and Elitzur Ramla.  On Friday afternoon, DiJonai Carrington and Kiara Leslie were back to having their import teammate spot filled, but Elitzur Tel Aviv lost 102-74 to Hapoel Rishon Lezion 102-74 as the visitors were led by Jennie Simms, Kristi Bellock, and Eden Zipel and have strengthened further in their chase for championship.  Import shifting was also a part of the other game as Karisma Penn immediately faced her former team in her debut for Herzliya with Victoria Vivians leading Maccabi Ashdod, which was able to field their new player, 74-71.
