The first game of another Monday in the league ended up being a big showcase for the import trios as visiting Elitzur Holon only got 2 points from domestic players in a 79-76 loss to Maccabi Ramat Hen.  Danielle Adams led the hosts, who got enough domestic production alongside their other imports to help offset big games from Alexis Hornbuckle and Atonye Nyingifa.  Maccabi Ashdod beat Shae Kelley and Hapoel Ironi Rishon Lezion 65-53.  Nof Kedem continues to be one of better infusions of local talent into the league as she helped Ramat Hasharon past Nikki Dixon and Hapoel Petah Tikva 88-67.  Britany Miller and Alex Harden led Hapoel Zikhron to a 72-67 win over Tayler Hill, Keisha Hampton, and Bnot Herzliya.

Another Monday of games started off in wild fashion as Bnot Herzliya won 94-84 at Maccabi Ramat Hen to end the day in first place.  Keisha Hampton was brutally efficient with 40 points on only 22 field goal attempts, shooting perfectly from beyond the arc as the visitors also got a huge performance from Tayler Hill.  Danielle Adams and Bria Holmes led the way for the hosts, but it was not enough.  Karisma Chapman and Hapoel Petah Tikva won 64-54 at Hapoel Ironi Rishon Lezion despite the best efforts of Shae Kelley.  Maccabi Ashdod had no trouble with Maccabi Raanana in an 86-44 win.  It ended up being a perfect day for away teams as Ramat Hasharon won 65-57 as Hapoel Zikhron.

A new season started on Monday.  Noa Ganor had the day’s biggest scoring output from a domestic player as Ramat Hasharon beat newcomers Maccabi Raananan 84-67.  Maccabi Ramat Hen was not messing around against the other newcomers, Hapoel Zikhron as the scoring of Bria Holmes and a triple-double from Chelsea Hopkins got them a 94-51 win.  Atonye Nyingifa has been a key post player in the league and she led Elitzur Holon to a 83-58 win over Karisma Chapman and Hapoel Petah Tikva.  Maccabi Ashdod cannot use their full strength EuroCup roster in domestic league play, so they will need their domestic contingent to chip in as Shay Doron did just that in a 76-71 overtime win over Tayler Hill and Bnei Herzliya.

Israeli Cup Final March 17th

March 18, 2016 by Andrew

It was the Final of the Cup on Thursday in a game that may be a preview of what to expect in the rest of the postseason.  Maccabi Ashdod rolled to the 70-49 win over Maccabi Ramat Hen as Alysha Clark took a leading role instead of just deferring to the balanced nature of the squad.  Kayla Thornton continued her great season individually, but it was not enough for her team.  Both teams join the other two remaining teams in contention for the league championship with the playoffs set to start on Monday.  Maccabi Ashdod, which has spent most of the season trying to find a rhythm with its talented roster, may be showing signs of rounding into shape at the crucial point in the season.
