Group A:

A pair of games were played on Wednesday with the other two on Thursday.  Nadezhda started well on the road, but Bourges controlled the second half to win 74-59.  A rather drab affair ended the day as Villeneuve escaped back across the border with a 51-49 win over Castors Braine.  Thursday started out in Ekaterinburg, where it was closer than expected for the hosts, but Kayla McBride still led them to the 69-54 win over Polkowice.  The week of games ended with USK Praha beating Schio 69-50.

Group A:

All games in this group were played on Wednesday, starting with the game in Orenburg where Alyssa Thomas led USK Praha to an 83-78 win over Nadezhda.  Temi Fagbenle and Polkowice did not have their start go as planned as Bourges dominated from the start on the way to a 73-56 win.  Ekaterinburg crushed Villeneuve as expected 99-51 while still short of their full roster.  Schio’s new look team came up short in Belgium as Castors Braine won 63-60.

Group A:

On the final Wednesday of group play, Dynamo Kursk finished unbeaten with an 83-73 win over Polkowice.  Crystal Langhorne and Sopron won 57-50 over Bourges to prevent the visitors from jumping a place in the final standings.  USK Praha took that third place as Amanda Zahui B helped them slam the door on Anete Steinberg andCastor Braine’s chances at additional continental play by beating them 75-71.  That result eliminated Galatasaray from the quarterfinals, but they did not know it at the time when they came out of the blocks with no energy in Villeneuve d’Ascq on their way to a 76-62 loss to Johanne Gomis, Johanna Leedham, and the fifth place finishers.

Group B:

A pair of big games was played on Wednesday.  Yakin Dogu University bounced back to beat Avenida 80-56.  Kelsey Plum was ridiculously efficient with 24 points from 7 field goal attempts and Fenerbahce also got a good game from Anastasia Verameyenka to beat Brittney Griner and UMMC Ekaterinburg 80-77.  On Thursday, Nadezhda showed that they do not want to be done with international competition as they cruised past Lattes Montpellier 100-56 in Orenburg.  Isabelle Yacoubou and Schio had a golden opportunity to put themselves in a great position to advance, but Leonor Rodriguez and Wisla left with a 68-59 win to keep their own hopes of extending their international season alive.

Group A:

This group’s first game of the new year was in Turkey, where Galatasaray did get a star back, but Bourges used a strong second half to win 79-61 thanks to the duo of Valeriane Ayayi and Marine Johannes.  USK Praha was unconvincing, but left Polkowice with a 61-51 win.  Castors pulled closer to Villeneuve in the standings after a 77-61 win as Anete Steinberga and Celeste Trahan-Davis  led the way while Nevena Jovanovic could have used more help from her teammates.  On Thursday, Sonja Petrovic and Dynamo Kursk continued to be the competition’s only undefeated team after an 86-66 win over Sopron.

Group B:

A highly-anticipated game in Ekaterinburg started the day.  UMMC trailed against Kayla McBride and Yakin Dogu University, but Alba Torrens and company seized the lead in the fourth quarter to win 82-77, taking control of the group lead without even having their full team yet.  In Krakow, Wisla surprised lackluster Avenida 52-48.  It took overtime for Aerial Powers to lift Fenerbahce to a 76-75 win in Lattes.  The week ended in Schio, where the Isabelle Yacoubou led the hosts to a 78-64 win and put themselves in sole possession of the critical fourth spot, but Nadezhda will be heartened by the continued emergence of Brionna Jones as they look to salvage sixth place.
