The last game of the season was on Saturday in Sfantu Gheorghe.  After losing twice on the road, Britney Jones and Sepsi took an early lead and never looked back in a 78-60 win over Andreona Keys and Arad to capture another championship in front of a big crowd.

The last game of the season was in this series on Saturday in Moscow.  Karina Nizamova and MBA built a lead in the first half, but Nika wiped it out in the third quarter.  The hosts completed a sweep of their home games in the final frame with a 61-47 win.

Only one series in this round needed a deciding game and it was played on Friday.  Jelena Dubljevic and Botas had been a difficult foe for Orman, but Danielle Robinson led the hosts to a 70-61 win to advance to the semifinals series starting Monday.  The other series will open Sunday.

Spanish League Quarterfinals Game 2 April 28th

All four series concluded on Thursday at the homes of the higher seeds.  Girona had a small lead from their first game, but quickly expanded it with a 67-54 win pushing the final margin to 128-110.  Zaragoza immediately cut into the deficit that they had accrued at home, but Sedis recovered and a 58-all tie left them advancing comfortably 133-115.  Avenida breezed to a 73-43 win over Gernika for a 158-113 aggregate scoreline.  The last game was from the series with a tie in the first game so no complicated calculations were needed to determine the winner, but Valencia made it even easier as they crushed Estudiantes 72-35 to advance 131-94.

The finals started on Thursday in Schio with the hosts looking to win against upstarts Bologna.  They started well and then weathered a couple of second half runs by the visitors to win 83-73.  Schio will host again on Saturday and try to double their series lead before heading out on the road.

On a Thursday where their reserve team won the second division championship, Dynamo Kursk was looking for their first title and to end Ekaterinburg’s very long championship streak.  They built a big lead early and then coasted to a 76-58 win to collect all available domestic trophies for the season.

Russian League Lower Group Tournament 2 April 26th-28th

The second half of play in this group was a set of midweek games in Samara, starting Tuesday with Yulia Poluyanova leading Dynamo Moscow past Southern Federal University 71-66.  Spartak Noginsk was far away from a win again after losing to Daria Kolosovskaya and the hosts 90-54.  They did not win on Wednesday either, losing to Dynamo Moscow 66-54 even though Ekaterina Kubynina had a good game.  Samara won easily 79-53 over Southern Federal University.  Ekaterina Kubynina led Spartak Noginsk again on Thursday, but they finished winless after losing to Ekaterina Gunchenko and Southern Federal University 78-52.  Daria Kolosovskaya and Anna Zaitceva helped Samara finish up their sweep at home with an 87-72 win to also even up their final record.

All games in this round were simultaneous tipoffs on Wednesday ahead of the final round on Saturday.  Regan Magarity and Landes continued their momentum from the cup with a 73-64 win over Charleville.  Landerneau was looking to put some space between them and the bottom, but Roche won 79-69 to lock in their seed.  Villeneuve built a halftime lead on their way to a 67-61 win over Alexis Peterson and Angers.  Bourges bounced back with a 74-63 win and left Lyon in a tricky place when it comes to the playoff bracket.  Julie Wojta and Tarbes were looking for an escape from the playdowns, but fell late to Lattes Montpellier 78-75.  Charnay tried to steal a game on the road as they need all the help that they can get to avoid being the team that drops, but lost to Hainaut 73-69.

A championship was on the line again on Wednesday in Arad.  Andreona Keys helped the hosts avoid elimination again with a 67-63 win over to send the series back to Sfantu Gheorghe for the deciding game and a chance to pull off one more spectacular upset.
