The news before the tournament that Belarus would not be able to make the trip due to a virus outbreak left the other three teams qualifying automatically, but still playing each other. The first game on Thursday still had plenty of excitement as Canada had a big lead at halftime, but hosts Japan roared back to force overtime and then win 86-79. Canada recovered on Saturday with Bridget Carleton and Natalie Achonwa leading them to a big 96-64 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina. The last game on Sunday also had its fun with Jonquel Jones at her best to help Bosnia and Herzegovina finish an 87-82 comeback win over Saki Hayashi and Japan.
