The season-opening tournament shrunk back to four teams this year and started with the semifinals on Monday as teams were missing key players, but were still quite competitive.  Bologna made the most ambitious additions, but did not have all of them available for this game and could not hold a lead against Venezia, losing 69-61.  Hosts Schio played the second game and used a strong second half to get past Ragusa 99-57.  The final was on Tuesday with the chance for a team to send an early season message.  Venezia had built a lead by halftime, but Schio controlled the second half to win 67-64
