The quarterfinals were played on Thursday with winners clinching spots in world championship qualifying in addition to continuing in the tournament. The first game of the day had a rare matchup of sisters as the United States breezed past the US Virgin Islands 97-46. Ace Konig fired Canada past the Dominican Republic 90-53 in the next game. Brazil stifled Venezuela early on their way to a 90-59 win. There had been fears that none of the games would be competitive, but Colombia got in a rhythm early with Narlyn Mosquera and gave Puerto Rico everything they could handle before the hosts rallied behind Jazmon Gwathmey to win 77-69.
