Group C started play in Buenos Aires on Thursday as there are two teams in the group from Argentina. The first of them to play, Berazategui beat Victoria of Ecuador, which relied on its veteran imports, 81-62. Quimsa started poorly against Marta Peralta and Leonas Guaranies from Paraguay, but won 77-64. On Friday, Berazategui beat Leonas Guaranies 73-57. Quimsa used a strong second half to beat Victoria 68-58 to set up the big matchup in Saturday’s last game. The first game of the final day was a chance for both teams to at least record a win and it was Victoria that did so 57-48 over Leonas Guaranies. The game for the top spot was tense and close throughout as Berazategui just edged Quimsa 46-45.
