The first round of the cup was marred by teams withdrawing due to being unable to field enough healthy players for the game and this round saw Tarbes get awarded a spot in the next round with Toulouse not playing. Aulnoye was set to host Charnay, but that game was also postponed. The round name is a misnomer with only 10 teams involved as the first division teams not involved in European play joined at this stage. Tuesday’s game was between two second tier teams as Reims rolled past Strasbourg 88-56. Joelly Belleka and Chartres gave their higher division foes all they could handle, but Ziomara Morrison helped Nantes leave with an 86-81 win. Myisha Hines-Allen and Lattes Montpellier shut the door on any possible upset early, beating Tina Trebec and Montbrison 99-71.
