The new season started on Friday in Adelaide as Brianna Turner made her overseas debut, but Crystal Langhorne led the hosts past Colleen Planeta and Sydney 89-79.  On Saturday, Marte Grays made her professional debut for Bendigo, but they lost to Melbourne 87-72.  Sophie Cunningham played her first overseas game for the visitors who also welcomed Lindsay Allen back from injury.  Southside played their first game under a new name and Leilani Mitchell helped them win 81-72 as Anneli Maley also returned to her home country to turn professional.  Bridget Carleton played a good first overseas game for Townsville.  On Sunday, Canberra’s trio of Kia Nurse, Kelsey Griffin, and Keely Froling got them the 90-83 win over Adelaide despite the best efforts of Lauren Nicholson.  Perth started their season with Ali Schwagmeyer leading them past Sydney 79-62.
