As is the tradition, the first round was played over a weekend at a single site with Zaragoza hosting this year.  The two newly promoted teams played first on Saturday and Clarinos beat Promete 68-60.  Valencia had an eye on joining the elite group of teams this season, but fell to Girona 67-52 to start the season.  Sedis beat Ensino 68-60 with Jovana Nogic making her professional debut.  Jennie Simms had a big game for Al-Qazeres, but they fell to Gernika 66-59 as Arica Carter made her first appearance overseas and Laura Ferreira and Khadidiatou Diouf made their professional debuts.  The day ended with Maria Jespersen and Brittany McPhee teaming up to lead Zamarat past Gipuzkoa 76-66 as Laura Cornelius and Amy Okonkwo made their professional debuts.  Sunday started with Araski beating Bembibre 67-42 although Brooke Salas, Julijana Vojinovic, and Inja Butina did make their professional debuts in the loss.  Avenida beat the hosts 74-45 to end the event, as Cierra Dillard played her first professional competitive game for Zaragoza.
