The season started on Saturday with all games played in two venues in Hannover. Heidelberg returned to the top division and handed Victoria Harris her professional debut, but saw their opener spoiled by Megan Mullings and Gottingen 64-58. Freiburg had two players making their professional debuts in Sam Fuehring and Jess Genco as they beat Jordan Korinek and Halle 73-68. Keltern wasted no time in sending a message to the rest of the league, rolling to an 86-38 win over Saarlouis, which did give Jessica Kovatch her first professional game. Wasserburg also has a point to prove and started with a 70-57 win over Hannover. Leslie Vorpahl led Donau-Ries past Marbug, which did get a professional debut from Candice White. A great game ended the long day as Herner’s first game since becoming champions was tougher than expected against Brittany Carter and Osnabruck, but Jordan Frericks helped them win 75-73 and Kennedy Leonard made her professional debut while the new promoted side gave a professional debut to Katie McWilliams.
