Half of the series started on Wednesday with the other half starting on Thursday as the top eight seeds entered in this round by hitting the road for the first game.  In Moscow, 3 seed Girona started well behind Keisha Hampton, but MBA fought back for a 71-69 win to carry with them on their travels.  4 seed Tarbes also had a lead early, but Aaryn Ellenberg-Wiley and Ruzomberok dominated the fourth quarter to win 68-65 and set up another interesting game for next week.  7 seed Wisla Krakow is in a more secure position after going to Nantes and beating Briana Day and company 87-67.  Top seed Lattes Montpellier is already on the ropes after Reyer Venezia showed what got them to the final last year after Debora Carangelo and Anete Steinberga led them to an 83-64 win.

Turkish rivals opened play on Thursday with 2 seed Cukurova getting to field close to their full lineup as Astou Ndour helped them past Kelsey Mitchell and Besiktas 73-65.  8 seed DVTK had a tough draw against defending champions Galatasaray, but Chanel Mokango, Aija Putnina, and Shatori Walker-Kimbrough helped them keep the first game to a 77-76 loss with a late surge to give them the belief that they can win in Miskolc.  It was also close in Bydgoszcz for a while, but Julie McBride took on a much bigger scoring role than usual for the hosts as they dominated the final quarter to stretch their lead to 77-60 and put pressure on 6 seed Szekszard.  Ariel Atkins and 5 seed Gorzow thought that they had done enough to bring home a lead, but Michelle Plouffe and Lyon used a big run in the fourth quarter to flip the score to 90-82.
