It was a different pattern for the United States in the final as they started strong and never relinquished the lead in a 73-56 win over Australia to defend their crown and lock up a spot at the next Olympics. The day started with the battle for 7th place as Canada edged Nigeria 73-72 to end a disappointing set of knockout round games with a win. Also in the consolation bracket, France beat China 81-67 despite falling behind early. Spain gave their home fans a chance to see them medal while Emma Messeeman had one more big effort, but Belgium lost 67-60.
