The league opted to have the opening weekend all in one location this year and Keltern was selected as the host, starting with a pair of Friday games. Wasserburg had their domestic dominance ended last season, but they delivered a message to the upstarts in the first game, winning 74-54 as Ashley Williams made her professional debut while Emma Stach returned to her home country after college and played for Keltern. Ariel Hearn had a good game for Saarlouis and Helmi Tulonen started her professional career after leaving college, but they fell to Hannover 63-51. Saturday’s games started with Marburg welcoming Braunschweig to the top division by beating them 83-54 and Alex Kiss-Rusk made her professional debut while Johanna Klug returned home from college. In the loss, Maggie Mulligan and Taylor Gleason made their professional debuts. Herner beat Chemnitz 78-65 with first professional games for Jordan Frericks and Drew Sannes. In the loss, Maya Hood, Ana Owens, and Klara Brichakova made their professional debuts. Kristen Gaffney led Freiburg past Lindsay Sherbert and Bad Aibling 69-66, although Shalen Shaw made her professional debut. The day ended with Donau-Ries beating Gottingen 77-41.
