Manati is playing host to this week’s tournament as Puerto Rico has recovered to be able to host big basketball games again. The top four teams in this tournament, the two teams in each group, will qualify for next summer’s Americas-wide tournament and keep their Olympic hopes alive.
Suspense was largely taken out of this group early as the US Virgin Islands did not field a team. That means that only one game will be played per day in this group as Monday’s action finished with Giocelis Reynoso leading the Dominican Republic past Guatemala 82-29.

Mexico ended up starting the day and they rolled past Costa Rica 77-42. The hosts are the only team for which this is not the end of their summer as they prepare for the World Championship. A fast start helped them win 95-50, although Leashia Grant did have a big game for the Bahamas.
