The round started with a rare Friday game. The duo of Kiah Stokes and Chelsea Gray helped Botas fend off Cukurova, which got another big game from Alina Iagupova. Saturday started with the battle of the promoted teams, which Orman won 70-54 over Bornova. A battle of university-sponsored teams was next as Yakin Dogu University beat Abdullah Gul University 85-45. The rest of the games were on Sunday. Bria Hartley fired Mersin past Adana Aski, which was at least able to debut their presumed star, 76-63. Besiktas picked a great time for their first win, surprising their Istanbul rivals Galatasaray 62-61 despite the latest great game from Allie Quigley. Claudia Pop had a good game for Istanbul University, but Fenerbahce’s strong second half got them the 83-78 win. There was extra basketball to close the day as a ferocious effort from Leilani Mitchell helped Hatay past Avery Warley-Talbert and Samsun 90-82.
