Group A:

Play in this group started in Hungary, where Aleksandra Crvendakic and hosts Sopron managed to hang with Dynamo Kursk until the final quarter as they lost 88-74 in the battle between the group’s remaining undefeated teams.  Alena Hanusova and USK Praha welcomed a new player to the team and held off Polkowice 72-66.  Allie Quigley led Galatasaray again, getting extremely efficient help from Gintare Petronyte as they left France with a 74-72 win over Bourges.  Pauline Akonga had a great game for Villeneuve as they used a strong second half to deny Castors Braine 81-71.

A full Wednesday of games started in Orenburg as Schio recorded an impressive 76-46 win over Nadezhda.  Ana Dabovic and Fenerbahce used a strong start to beat Lattes Montpellier 79-63.  Yakin Dogu University looked to get a statement win at home, but Brittney Griner and UMMC showed that it is still a step up to get to Europe’s elite as they won 79-70.  That left one unbeaten team in the group heading into the final game and Wisla Krakow looked to end that while picking up their first win, but Avenida dug deep in the second half and came up with the 62-57 victory.
