Turkish League Round 24 April 1st-2nd

Most of the games in this round were played on Saturday.  Asena Yalcin had a big game for Adana, but Girne University got the much needed win 71-65.  Abdullah Gul University prepped for their big midweek game with a 77-53 win at Botas.  Rebekkah Brunson tried to pull her team out of trouble on her own, but Courtney Paris and Barbara Turner teamed up to get Hatay the 78-69 win.  The most-anticipated game of the round was Istanbul’s big rivalry, which saw the combination of Yvonne Anderson and Moriah Jefferson get Galatasaray the 89-73 win over Jantel Lavender and Fenerbahce.  Courtney Vandersloot and Yakin Dogu University were able to widen their lead, but needed a second half rally to beat pesky Besiktas 70-65.  Osmaniye lost a big chance for a key win after collapsing late against Danielle Robinson and Mersin to lose 65-63.  There was one game Sunday as Canik had to deal with distractions, but rallied in overtime to beat Istanbul University 101-86.  Shay Murphy, Viktoria Mircheva, and Frida Eldebrink picked up the slack with a player missing, possibly giving their team enough to steer clear of danger.  Tan White led the hosts, who ended up coming away with nothing after splitting the team over two competitions this weekend.
