After a long break for most of the teams, the quarterfinals series started on Saturday with the lower ranked teams hosting the first game before the higher ranked teams host the next two games on Tuesday and Thursday if necessary. A number of teams had unexpected roster turmoil, further changing the playoff picture. Wu Di picked up some of the slack for the missing Elena Delle Donne as Shanxi put up a creditable fight against Beijing before losing 74-68. Henan also did not have a foreign player as they faced Xinjiang, relying heavily on Huang Pinzhen. The hosts took no chances, playing Glory Johnson, Wang Lili, and Peng Shiqing for all 40 minutes and getting big production from all of them. Shanghai was deflated by news that Breanna Stewart would not be able to return and a solid first half effort turned into a rout as Bayi won 76-48. The other military team, Shenyang, did not even have to wait for rules to tilt to their advantage, using their dynamic duo of Li Meng and Jin Jiabao to beat Guangdong 85-65.
