The finals started on Sunday as Carolina was finally able to establish a larger lead in the fourth quarter to beat Morovis 76-59. The return of Carla Cortijo was critical to giving the hosts the edge as she led all scorers and created a dynamic domestic backcourt with Jennifer O’Neill. The visitors had the edge inside as their top two scorers were their imports. They will need to find some more production from domestic players if they have a shot at defeating the increasingly gelling top seed. The two cities are in close proximity, which will help as the teams make constant trips between venues in the 1-1-1-1-1-1-1 format, starting with the next game in Morovis on Tuesday.
