EuroLeague Round 1 October 26th-27th

The first week of the new EuroLeague season started with games spread across Wednesday and Thursday.

Group A:

The opening game was in Turkey as Lattes Montpellier had a good start and went back to France with the 74-68 win as balance helped overcome a big game from Marissa Coleman.  Prodceedings were also close in Poland, where Dynamo Kursk escaped back to Russia with the 67-61 win over Wisla Krakow.  Czech powerhouse USK Praha welcomed Gyor back to the competition on Thursday by going to Hungary and rolling to a 90-51 win.  The day finished with an exciting game in Italy as Fenerbahce returns to Turkey with 75-73 overtime win over Schio thanks to a big game from Allie Quigley, offsetting the work of Jolene Anderson for the hosts.

Group B:

Polkowice enjoyed their return so much that they forced an extra ten minutes of basketball to be played in Poland before Sopron could return to Hungary with the 90-82 win.  Yvonne Turner had an great game as she played all 50 minutes, getting some help from Sara Krnjic while Marija Vrsaljko led the way for the hosts.  A battle of French teams saw Clarissa Dos Santos and Bourges come back to beat hosts Villeneuve.  Defending champions UMMC Ekaterinburg are not at full strength yet and it showed in their trip from Russia to Spain as they lost to Jelena Milovanovic and Avenida 83-72.  Thursday started in Turkey where Hatay welcomed a Russian team with more pedigree at this level in Nadezhda, losing 70-58.
