The group stage of the tournament started with games on Wednesday and Thursday. Groups A through D represent the Eastern Conference while Groups E through H represent the Western Conference.
Group A:
Play started on Wednesday with a return to the competition for Israeli teams as Maccabi Ashdod has put together a stellar roster, including the excellent story of a comeback for Tiffany Jackson-Jones. Ashdod made their debut with a 71-60 win in Russia over Spartak Moscow. Lithuania returned to the competition on Thursday with Sirenos hosting Hungary’s Cegled and losing to Nora Nagy-Bujdoso and company 76-61.

Abdullah Gul University has got more of their WNBA champion players to arrive in Turkey, but started play on Wednesday with a 65-47 win over Hungary’s Pecsi even though they were not at full strength. On Thursday, Russia’s MBA Moscow hosted Hungary’s Pecs and Anna Leshkovtseva helped fend off Dorina Zele and the visitors 73-69.
