One final game would decide the title on Monday in what had been a great series in Israel so far. The home teams had won all of the previous games and Maccabi Ramat Hen took the early lead. Maccabi Ashdod’s talent was too strong to count out completely. They jumped out of the gates in the second half, wiping out the deficit in the third quarter and then taking and building the lead in the final frame to win 78-72. They were helped by getting enough contributions from all three of their foreign players, helping at least bring their production levels within the usual contribution levels of the trio that carried the hosts. This allowed their superior depth in domestic players to put them over the top. Even though there were a number of bumps along the way in the regular season, the team considered to have the strongest overall roster eventually found a good formula and ended a dramatic and exciting season that had looked to be less promising at the start.
