French League Round 24

Two games from the round had to be played a week later due to the EuroCup, but five were played last Wednesday.  Hainaut left Arras in further trouble by beating them 63-48.  Lattes Montpellier took advantage of other postponements to build their lead with a 74-63 win over Charleville.  Lauren Ervin and Lyon beat Toulouse 83-73 as the visitors tried to pull their way to safety but could not win even with great games from Olivia Epoupa and Lidija Turcinovic.  Mondeville continued to hold hopes for some postseason play with a 67-60 win over Angers.  Landes was the latest team to beat up on Calais with Marie Milapie leading them to a 113-75 win.  Round 20 games were made up over the weekend.  On Saturday, Bourges managed to offset Charleville’s inside-outside combination of Alicia DeVaughn and Kaleena Mosqueda-Lewis with ridiculous outside shooting to win 88-73.  On Sunday, it was Villeneuve’s turn to make up a game.  The rest of the round was played on Wednesday.  Nice jumped ahead of Villeneuve in the standings by beating them 66-56 as both teams look set to make the playoffs.  Bourges beat Nantes 67-53 to stay firmly in second place, leaving the visitors perilously close to falling out of the Challenge Round.
