Turkish League Round 21

Many of the round’s games were moved to unconventional times due to games in the European competitions, with one game needing to be rescheduled completely.  On Saturday, Botas edged Gelistirenler 70-63 as both teams sit right on the outside of the playoff picture while feeling in relative safety.  On Sunday, domestic players took center stage in the battle of university sponsored teams as Abdullah Gul University beat Yakin Dogu University 80-74.  Istanbul University beat Samsun 75-63 as both teams still remain in the playoff places.  Hatay continued to impress as Natalie Hurst led them to a 71-59 win over Adana despite the best efforts of Shavonte Zellous and Michelle Campbell.  On Monday, Edirnespor finally got back to full strength, helping them beat a Besiktas team recovering from continental elimination 77-70 as Stefanie Dolson’s work helped offset the usual tremendous effort from Cappie Pondexter.  Fenerbahce showed no mercy against a weakened Orduspor, rolling 113-69.  Without key teammates, Ozge Kavurmacioglou and Elin Eldebrink did everything that they could, but it was not nearly enough.
