The draw for the two groups of Olympic play were drawn on Friday.
The identity of the remaining five teams is yet to be determined, but the other seven teams found out some of their opponents. Hosts Brazil will be joined by Australia, Japan, and three final qualifiers in Group A. The United States will look to defend its crown starting with Canada, Senegal, Serbia, and two qualifiers.

Along with the teams in each group, the draw for group slots which determine the order in which the teams will play each other in the first round. The first round is a round robin among the six teams in each group. The top four teams in each group will qualify for the quarterfinals, which will match teams up across the groups to form the bracket for the medal rounds.
