The next stage of the season started in China with teams divided into two groups based on performances in the first stage. This stage is also a double round robin among the six teams in each group.
A Group
The group of top teams started off with a set of great games. Shanghai needed a comeback in the second half to beat Shenyang 79-73 as Elizabeth Cambage led the way. Despite a big Penny Taylor performance, Shanxi could not take advantage of Yelena Leuchanka’s absence from Guangdong for international duty and lost 81-80. Beijing beat Xinjiang 80-74 to show the best team from the first stage that things will get tougher now. Shao Ting had the best performance of a local player in the win while Tina Charles had another solid outing in the loss.
